Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I lose my private key?
You will not be able to decrypt past submissions. We cannot recover it—that's the point. Always backup your private keys securely. We recommend exporting them immediately after form creation.
Is client-side encryption really included for free?
Yes. We believe privacy is a right, not a premium feature. Free plans get the same encryption as enterprise. The paid plans add volume, team features, and support.
Can you see my form submissions?
No. We receive encrypted blobs that we cannot decrypt. Your private key never leaves your browser. Even with full server access, we see only ciphertext.
What if you get subpoenaed?
We can only hand over encrypted data that we cannot decrypt. Without your private key, it's meaningless. This is by design.
Do you sell or share data?
No. We couldn't even if we wanted to—we can't read it. We make money from subscriptions, not data harvesting.
Is VeilForms GDPR compliant?
Yes. Client-side encryption + PII stripping + anonymous IDs means we're compliant by architecture, not just policy. No personal data ever reaches our servers.
Can I self-host VeilForms?
Enterprise plans include an on-premise option. Our encryption core is also open source if you want to build your own.
What's the catch?
No drag-and-drop form builder (yet). We're developer-first. If you need a visual builder, we're building one—but our SDK works great today.
