These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of VeilForms and related services. By creating an account or using VeilForms, you agree to these Terms.
In plain English: Don’t abuse the service, don’t blame us if you lose your private keys, and we’ll do our best to keep your encrypted data safe. If something goes wrong that’s our fault, we’ll fix it, but we can’t be liable for unlimited damages.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using VeilForms:
- You agree to be bound by these Terms
- You represent that you’re at least 16 years old
- You have authority to bind your organization (if applicable)
If you don’t agree, don’t use the service.
2. Description of Service
VeilForms provides:
- Client-side encrypted form submission and storage
- Form builder and management tools
- APIs and SDKs for integration
- Analytics dashboard
- Webhook delivery
Critical limitation: VeilForms uses end-to-end encryption. We cannot decrypt your form submissions. If you lose your private key, your data is permanently unrecoverable.
3. Account Registration
Your Responsibilities
- Provide accurate information (email, payment details)
- Keep your password secure
- Maintain control of your account credentials
- Securely store your private encryption keys
- Notify us immediately of unauthorized access
Our Rights
We may suspend or terminate accounts that:
- Violate these Terms
- Engage in fraudulent activity
- Abuse the service or harm other users
- Remain inactive for 12+ months (with 30-day notice)
4. Privacy and Encryption
Zero-Knowledge Architecture
- You generate and control your encryption keypair
- We receive only encrypted form submissions
- We cannot decrypt your data, even if legally compelled
- You are solely responsible for key management
Your Private Key Responsibilities
You acknowledge that:
- Loss of your private key means permanent data loss
- We cannot help recover lost keys (by design)
- You should maintain secure backups
- Key rotation is your responsibility

5. Acceptable Use Policy
You MAY Use VeilForms For:
- Collecting contact forms, surveys, feedback
- Handling sensitive customer data (PII, health info, etc.)
- Integrating with your applications via API/SDK
- Commercial use in compliance with your plan limits
You MAY NOT:
- Illegal activity: Fraud, phishing, harassment, illegal content
- Abuse: DDoS attacks, spam, excessive API requests
- Circumvention: Bypassing rate limits or security measures
- Reselling: Offering VeilForms as a white-label service (without Enterprise agreement)
- Harmful content: Child exploitation, malware, terrorist content
- Impersonation: Pretending to be VeilForms or another user
Violators will be immediately banned and reported to authorities if necessary.
6. Pricing and Payment
Plans and Billing
- Pricing is available at veilforms.com/pricing
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled
- Payments processed via Stripe (secure, PCI-compliant)
- We may change pricing with 30-day notice
Refunds
- 30-day money-back guarantee (no questions asked)
- Pro-rated refunds for annual plans (within first 30 days)
- No refunds after 30 days or for Terms violations
Free Tier
- Subject to usage limits (see pricing)
- We may change or discontinue free tier with 60-day notice
- No SLA or uptime guarantees on free tier
Overages
- Overage charges apply if you exceed plan limits
- We’ll email warnings before charging overages
- You can upgrade or set hard limits in dashboard
7. Intellectual Property
VeilForms IP
VeilForms retains all rights to:
- The VeilForms platform, APIs, and dashboard
- Our trademarks, logos, and branding
- Service infrastructure and technology
Your IP
You retain all rights to:
- Your form content and designs
- Your decrypted submission data
- Your private encryption keys
- Your applications that integrate VeilForms
Open Source SDK
Our JavaScript SDK is MIT licensed. See GitHub for details.
License to Us
You grant VeilForms a limited license to:
- Store encrypted submissions on your behalf
- Process metadata for service operation (anonymized analytics)
- Display your form designs in the dashboard
- Cache and deliver data to you via API
This license ends when you delete your data or account.
8. Service Availability
Uptime Targets
- Free tier: Best effort (no SLA)
- Pro tier: 99.5% uptime target
- Enterprise tier: 99.9% uptime SLA
Targets exclude:
- Scheduled maintenance (announced 7 days in advance)
- Third-party failures (DNS, hosting providers)
- DDoS attacks or force majeure events
Service Changes
We may:
- Add, modify, or remove features with notice
- Conduct maintenance (scheduled or emergency)
- Change APIs with deprecation notice (90 days for breaking changes)
No Warranty
VeilForms is provided “as is” without warranties:
- We don’t guarantee error-free operation
- We’re not liable for data loss due to encryption key loss
- We don’t warrant compatibility with all systems
- Third-party integrations may break
Use appropriate backups and testing for critical use cases.
9. Data and Backups
Your Responsibilities
- Back up your private keys (we cannot help recover them)
- Export critical data regularly
- Test your decryption process
- Maintain redundancy for mission-critical forms
Our Responsibilities
- Maintain encrypted backups of submissions
- Provide data export tools
- Retain data according to your settings
- Delete data upon request
Data Loss Scenarios
We’re NOT liable for data loss due to:
- Lost or deleted private keys
- User error (accidental deletion)
- Attacks on your infrastructure
- Third-party service failures
We ARE liable (limited to service fees paid) for:
- Loss of encrypted data due to our negligence
- Failure to provide data export before account deletion
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
Damages Cap
Our total liability to you is limited to:
- Paid users: Fees paid in the last 12 months
- Free users: $100 USD
Excluded Damages
We’re not liable for:
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Lost profits, data, or business opportunities
- Damages from third-party services or integrations
- Data loss due to lost encryption keys
Exceptions
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by negligence
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- Violations that cannot be limited by law
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify VeilForms from claims arising from:
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your misuse of the service
- Content you collect via forms
- Your violation of laws or third-party rights
Example: If you use VeilForms to collect data illegally and get sued, you’re responsible, not us.
12. Termination
By You
- Cancel anytime via dashboard
- Export your data before cancelling
- Cancellation takes effect at end of billing period
By Us
We may terminate for:
- Violation of Terms
- Non-payment
- Illegal activity or abuse
- Service discontinuation (with 90-day notice)
Effects of Termination
- Access to dashboard ends immediately
- Data retained for 30 days (for export)
- After 30 days, encrypted data is permanently deleted
- No refunds for Terms violations
13. DMCA and Copyright
If you believe content violates your copyright:
DMCA Notice to:

- Include: Your contact info, description of work, location of infringement, good faith statement
Counter-notices follow standard DMCA process.
Important: Form submissions are encrypted. We cannot review content without your decryption key.
14. Dispute Resolution
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, excluding conflicts of law provisions.
Informal Resolution
Before filing a claim, contact support@veilforms.com. We’ll try to resolve disputes informally.
Arbitration (US Users)
For US users, disputes will be resolved via binding arbitration (JAMS rules), except:
- Small claims court is allowed
- Intellectual property disputes
- Emergency injunctive relief
You waive the right to class action lawsuits.
Non-US Users
Non-US users may bring claims in courts of Delaware, USA, or their local jurisdiction where permitted by law.
15. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms as we add features or comply with laws.
We’ll notify you:
- Email to account holders
- Dashboard notification
- 30-day notice before material changes take effect
Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
Disagreement? Cancel your account before changes take effect.
16. Miscellaneous
Entire Agreement
These Terms, plus our Privacy Policy and Acceptable Use Policy, constitute the entire agreement.
Severability
If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
No Waiver
Our failure to enforce a term doesn’t waive our right to do so later.
Assignment
You can’t transfer your account without our consent. We may assign these Terms (e.g., in an acquisition).
Force Majeure
We’re not liable for delays due to events beyond our control (natural disasters, war, pandemics, etc.).
Export Controls
You may not use VeilForms in violation of US export controls or sanctions.
US Government Users
VeilForms is a “commercial item” with “restricted rights” under FAR/DFARS.

Summary for Non-Lawyers
- You control your keys - Lose them, lose your data. We can’t help.
- Don’t be evil - No illegal stuff, no abuse, no spam.
- We’re not perfect - Service is “as is,” limited liability applies.
- Pay your bills - Or we’ll suspend your account.
- Export before you cancel - Data is deleted 30 days after termination.
- We can update these - With 30-day notice.
